Credit Card Service Fee Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a credit card service fee?

A credit card service fee is a percentage that is applied to all credit card purchases to offset the card issuer’s operating costs associated with processing credit card transactions. At present, HACC pays this entire service fee to our current merchant for our students/customers

What are the alternative payment methods to avoid the service fee?

Electronic checks (ACH e-checks) from your savings or checking account, paper checks, money orders or cashier checks and cash.

Yes, this is a common practice and many of the surrounding colleges have already implemented the service fee.

Why is HACC making this change?

HACC has paid the service fee for years for our students/customers. This has an impact on the overall operational budget, which forces increases in tuition costs for students.
