Paying For School

Transferring and financial aid

Student financial aid does not directly transfer between colleges. Instead, the new college you transfer to will recalculate your eligibility based on the information on your FAFSA, it's available funding and it's awarding policies. Certain types of government aid are portable, while campus-based aid such as Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant(SEOG) and Federal Work-Study (FWS) are not. In addition, any money awarded by a college from its own funds will not transfer. The new college might award you the same types of financial aid as your current college, but the amounts may differ due to the college's available funds.

I am transferring to HACC. What should I do?
If you've received financial aid at another college and you are transferring to HACC, you'll need to do the following:

  • List HACC's Federal School Code on your FAFSA. HACC's code is 003273.
This allows HACC to access your financial aid record and process your aid.

  • Contact your current school's Financial Aid Office.
Notify them that you are transferring to cancel any aid that you may have been awarded for future terms at your prior school. Many aid programs have an annual limit and outstanding awards at your old school will limit your eligibility at HACC.

  • Contact your current school's Registration Office.
Order official copies of your academic transcripts and send them to HACC.

  • Contact PHEAA'S State Grant Division.
Notify them that you are transferring to HACC. Go to www.aessuccess.org. Select "Account Access." Then select "State Grant." Update your school code to 003273.
