The following questions are frequently asked by our active military and veterans students. Please contact us with your questions if your question is not listed here.

Question: How many credits do you need to attend HACC full time in the summer?
Answer: Please see the training time equivalency table to determine your summer schedule. If you have any questions, please contact us at 717-780-2331 or at vaoffice@hacc.edu.

Question: What is the current housing allowance?
Answer: HACC does not offer housing. However, if you are a MVA student receiving Chapter 33 - Post 9/11 benefits, you may receive a monthly housing allowance. To acquire the most current information regarding the current BAH rates please go to the Defense Travel site and use the following information: Enter "17110" in the Zip Code box, select the current calendar year, and select "E-5" as the pay grade. You will want to use the "E-5 with DEPENDENTS" rate. Additional information regarding Chapter 33 - Post 9/11 benefits can be found on the VA website.

Question: Can you use the state Education Assistance Program (EAP) with the GI Bill®?
Answer: Yes. You can use EAP with any of the GI Bill® chapters.

Question: Is HACC approved to offer GI Bill® Advanced Pay?

Answer: Yes, HACC is approved to office GI Bill® Advanced Pay for the following GI Bill® chapters: Chapter 30, Chapter 35, and Chapter 1606. Before you apply, have you considered the following: Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) (Review HACC's Financial Aid page), and HACC Scholarships .

You can request VA Advanced Pay using HACC's MVA Advance Pay Request online form.

Question: As a HACC MVA student (military and veteran affairs student) am I eligible for the lowest in-state tuition rate (community college sponsoring rate)?

Answer: Maybe. According to Pennsylvania Act 14 2023 - in order to receive the lowest in-state tuition rate at HACC, you must be eligible and using any of the following VA benefits: Chapter 1606, Ch 35, Ch 33, Ch 31 or Ch 30.

In addition, under the PA EAP (Education Assistance Program) or PA MFEP (Military Family Education Program) guidelines, if you are eligible and using PA EAP or PA MFEP (Military Family Education Program) at HACC, you would also be eligible for the lowest in-state tuition rate. Finally, if you are eligible and using Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA), the lowest in-state rate would also apply.

Question: Where can I find more information about HACC's college statistics such as retention rates, default rate (CDR) and financial aid?

Answer: HACC publicly publishes all required information on our website. You may also review HACC's Student Consumer Information page for a consolidated resource list. To find statistical information about HACC, to included but not limited to retention rates and loan default rates, you can review the National Center for Education Statistics - College Navigator site. This site provides relevant information regarding HACC's policies, accreditation and other college information.

Question: Does HACC review and consider military education, training and other completed course work for transferred in credit?

Answer: Yes, HACC has a robust credit transfer policy and procedure. Please review HACC's Earn College Credit for YOUR Previous Learning Experiences page and Transcript Evaluation page for more information.
