Impact of the HACC Foundation

The financial support of the HACC Foundation provides students opportunities to apply for scholarships and monies to help pay for their tuition, books and/or fees. The HACC Foundation also supports the College financially to grow innovative academic programs, supply state-of-the-art training equipment and modernize facilities.

HACC Foundation Scholarships Have Their Intended Effect on Students’ Lives

A HACC Foundation scholarship can mean the difference between a HACC student successfully completing their educational journey or dropping out due to financial hardship. Scholarship recipients say as much when accepting their awards.

Now, however, the HACC Foundation has data to back up these claims. An analysis by HACC’s Institutional Reporting Department shows that students who receive a HACC Foundation scholarship or other assistance are more likely to graduate during or after their award year than non-scholarship students.

For award year 2022-23, 41% of students receiving HACC Foundation scholarships or other assistance subsequently graduated. In addition, 41% of students had at least one term on the Dean’s List and 78% re-enrolled after the aid year.

“There are many reasons why our students succeed, but the numbers prove that scholarship assistance is essential,” said Linnie S. Carter, Ph.D., APR, vice president of college advancement at HACC and executive director of the HACC Foundation.

“If we were to remove the HACC Foundation from the equation, it would have an adverse effect on student success at HACC,” Carter said. “While we do not have the resources to do an individual analysis for each of our scholarship funds, we are pleased with the impact illustrated by this comprehensive analysis.”
