Bruce E. Cooper Student Center Renovation

Think about a place that evokes positive feelings and memories whenever you go there… For many HACC students, employees and alumni, that place is the Bruce E. Cooper Student Center on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.

Built in the 1960s, the Cooper Student Center was renovated after HACC leaders realized that the building no longer met students’ changing needs in the 21st century.

After a renovation that was completed in August 2017, the Cooper Student Center has been transformed into an attractive, modern facility that has enhanced the student experience and become the central location of student services and activities.

Each day, the new Cooper Student Center serves more than 7,500 students, 400 full-time employees and countless visitors! However, the Cooper Student Center is about more than bricks and mortar.

It’s about the:

  • Military veteran who attends HACC and who seeks refuge in the Cooper Student Center
  • Introverted student who makes a friend while having lunch
  • Student who is studying with others, and a solution to a math problem finally clicks in his brain
  • Groups of students – from all walks of life – who are laughing, talking, planning and commiserating about a final exam
  • Single mother who graduated from high school 22 years ago and finally works up the courage to enter the building to see what she needs to do to attend college at the age of 40
  • Ambitious student who wants to study abroad to learn more about intercultural and diversity curricular initiatives

And it’s about YOU – our generous donors.

HACC has made the Cooper Student Center a priority of the current Invest. Impact. Inspire, Campaign for HACC. We are confident that through generous investments and charitable contributions, this goal will be achieved.
