“College can be daunting when transitioning from high school with how large campuses can be, but with HACC, classes are similar in size to high school, allowing you to focus more on content and less on other challenges like 200-person lecture halls.”
Zachary, a nursing student at HACC’s Lebanon Campus at Lebanon Valley College, learned that the transition from high school to college can be difficult, but HACC makes it easy.
“College can be daunting when transitioning from high school with how large campuses can be,” said Zach, who started off at Penn State Harrisburg before taking a year off to work full time and build up his discipline. “But with HACC, classes are similar in size to high school, allowing you to focus more on content and less on other challenges like 200-person lecture halls,” he added.
As for how Zachary felt on his first day at HACC, he said, “I would be lying if I said I was able to get rid of my nerves, but something that really helped me is telling myself that it is everyone else's first day too, and everyone is nervous – even the professors.”
Now, Zachary is enjoying taking classes at HACC’s new Lebanon Location. Once finished, Zachary plans to become a nurse and eventually pursue a doctorate.
