Meet Joshua: Engineered His Success

Joshua Bacon earned an Associate in Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from HACC in 2018. Today, he works as a mechanical engineer in the Boston area.

A student at the Harrisburg Campus, Joshua’s father was a HACC professor, so he knew the College offered a great education at a more affordable price than four-year schools. 

“HACC offers great instruction and allows you to manage your own time and pace of your degree,” he said. “The instructors were enthusiastic and willing to help one-on-one as long as you put in the work of seeking them out.”

In addition to the personal attention he received from his professors, Joshua values the College’s positive impact on the community. “HACC gives local students a leg up on college, offering greater access to students in the community, and they can do so on a budget.”

As far as advice for those selecting a college, Joshua said, “Finding a school that is going to teach you what you’re interested in, below the surface level of your major, is more important than the name on the free sweater they give you at graduation.”
