Meet Amber: Resilient Mom Who Wears Many Hats
“HACC has helped me show my daughter no matter your age or life circumstances, you can accomplish anything you put your mind to.”
Amber Constantino, HACC alumna, said she chose HACC for many reasons. For her, the biggest selling point was that HACC offered an associate degree in early childhood education that she could do mostly online, with some evening classes at the Lancaster Campus.
As a student, Amber was 34, working full time and caring for her young daughter with her husband . On top of all that, Amber also had to carefully monitor her health after being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis, a condition that causes severe pain and swelling. “This disease slows me down some days, but the majority of the days I beat it,” she said.
Amber said, “I wear many hats and I needed a college that would allow me to continue to wear those hats, while completing my degree.”
Amber wants others to know that HACC provides options when it comes to how you take your classes. “Not everyone’s college has to be the textbook ‘go and sit in class all day’ story. You can make your schedule to fit your needs,” she said.
Like many HACC students, Amber’s family gave her extra inspiration to achieve her dream. She said, “Coming back to school after being out of high school for so long seemed impossible. HACC has helped me show my daughter no matter your age or life circumstances, you can accomplish anything you put your mind to.”
