On this Peace Officer Memorial Day, cadets from the 103rd Police Academy at HACC remember officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice during the past year. Please take a moment today to remember those who have fallen in the line of duty.
Basic Handgun Marksmanship and Safety for Civilians
This eight-hour class is designed for the civilian wanting to gain basic knowledge
and hands-on experience with a handgun. The course will cover legal topics,
such as chapter 5 of the PA Crimes Code and Pennsylvania’s Castle Doctrine,
nomenclature, cleaning, safe handling and storage of the handgun. The live
fire portion will cover basic fundamentals such as proper stance, grip, sighting
and trigger control. Students must be 21 years of age and are required to provide their own handgun and
50 rounds of manufacturer’s approved ammunition (no re-loaded ammunition
allowed). Students are also required to provide proper hearing protection, eye
protection and a baseball-style hat.
Classes will be held at the Senator Jeffrey E. Piccola Law Enforcement Complex.
Tuition for this program is $150 and must be paid at the time of registration.
