The Shumaker Public Safety Center is an authorized American Heart Association training center. We provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training. Learn about this training.

What classes are available? Basic Life Support (BLS)  - $65.00

This course provides the foundation for saving lives from cardiac arrest. It teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics. This course is for healthcare providers for initial certification or for those looking to recertify. These include EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, dentists, nurses and respiratory therapists. It is also ideal for students entering the healthcare field. Tuition includes the required AHA CPR BLS textbook. You must pass a written and practical skills exam to obtain certification.

HeartCode Basic Life Support - $35.00

Schedule and Online Registration
HeartCode BLS uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students BLS knowledge and skills.
After completing the online portion, students attend a structured BLS Hands-On Session with an AHA Instructor. This session focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, discussions of local protocols, and skills testing. HeartCode BLS is for healthcare professionals seeking an alternative method for completing an initial or renewal BLS Course.


Heartsaver CPR & AED - $45.00
Schedule and Online Registration
This course is for those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency and also covers choking in infants, children, and adults. It is ideal for individuals who need to fulfill a regulatory requirement. This course does not meet the requirements for healthcare providers.

First Aid, CPR & AED Heartsaver - $75.00
Schedule and Online Registration

This course helps students recognize and treat sudden illness and injury. Students also learn to recognize signs of unresponsiveness. It also covers bleeding control, airway management, CPR and using an AED.This program meets OSHA requirements for First Aid training at all work places.


When is registration due?
Registration for closes two weeks before the start of class. We will not accept on-site registrations. Payment is due at the time of registration.
