Now accepting applications for the 17th EMS Academy!
The EMS Academy has been designed to ensure the highest level of training to potential Emergency Medical Service providers for successful entry into the field.
Upon successful completion of the Academy, graduates will have obtained the following:
- Pennsylvania Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician certification (EMT-B)
- Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT)
- International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
- Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP)
- Hazardous Materials Awareness
- Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS)
- ACLS for the EMT-B
- National incident Management System Components (overview, IS100, IS200, IS700, IS800)
Additional training in vehicle extrication, rescue practices and physical development will all be provided as
well as scheduled clinical rotation time on regional area ambulances where the candidate will be expected to
function as a member of an EMS crew.
The HACC EMS Academy is a full time program, primarily scheduled Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, however, the
commitment may include some evenings and weekends. This concentrated program requires over 400 hours
of training. Attendance is mandatory and it is recommended that candidates do not hold employment while
attending the Academy.
The HACC 17th EMS Academy will begin September 4, 2012 and conclude on December 7, 2012. Tuition for the EMS Academy is $1250.00.
