HARRISBURG, PA. – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will host a commemorative event honoring the valiant efforts of the fallen and living heroes of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City, New York; Washington, D.C.; and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, during a 25th Anniversary Commemorative Event at 10 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2026. The event will be held at the Senator John J. Shumaker Public Safety Center on the College’s Harrisburg Campus.

The event will provide an opportunity for the community to come together to remember and honor the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, as well as recognize the courage and sacrifice of the first responders, military and emergency personnel and volunteers who served in the aftermath of the attacks.

As an institution with a strong connection to public safety and emergency services education and training, HACC is uniquely positioned to commemorate the legacy of Sept. 11 and the enduring importance of service, preparedness and community resilience.

The event will also reflect on the unity and compassion demonstrated in the days and years following the attacks and provide an opportunity to educate future generations about the lasting impact of Sept. 11.
The 25th Anniversary Commemorative Event supports HACC’s commitment to education, public service and community engagement.
