HARRISBURG, Pa.HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, is proud to announce that Morgan Carr, a student in the Massage Therapy Program, received a gold medal at the 2025 Pennsylvania Massage Championship.

Held April 12-13, 2025, at the Academy of Massage Therapy and Bodyworks in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, the annual event draws top-tier massage therapists from across the state to compete in various categories, including form, technique and body mechanics. The championship is a recognized member of the American Massage Championships, which is supported by the World Massage Festival.

Carr, who is from Lykens, Pennsylvania, received a gold medal in the emergent massage therapist category, which recognizes a student or new massage therapist for their exceptional performance.

“Winning the gold award at the 2025 Pennsylvania Massage Championship as an emerging therapist feels great, but what's more, is having had the opportunity to attend the championship and get a taste of how much the massage therapy world has to offer. I was able to meet and watch some amazing therapists and see a universe of skills and techniques at work,” Carr said.

She also noted how her teachers have helped to prepare her for this award and to soon join the massage therapy field. “Nina Kottcamp, HACC’s coordinator of holistic health and wellness programs, has done a stupendous job of overseeing the program and putting everything together and ensuring that everyone is set up for reaching their potential,” said Carr. “She shared the opportunity of this championship to our class, and I took the opportunity that was presented with no regrets.”

After completing her time at HACC, Carr plans on working as a massage therapist and continuing her education.

HACC’s Massage Therapy Program is recognized by the American Massage Therapy Association and the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. HACC is also approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork as a continuing education approved provider. Students in the program are prepared to sit for the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination. The program boasts exceptional pass rates above the state and national averages.
