Auditions, which are open to anyone in the community, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Krevsky Production Center, 513 Hurlock St., and 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Rose Lehrman Arts Center, One HACC Drive, both in Harrisburg.
Roles available include six to eight parts for females age 16 and older and six to eight parts for men age 16 and older. There are four character roles available for actors age 40 and up (two men and two women). Those wishing to audition should prepare one audition song from a musical (no rock or pop songs). Participants should wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to do a dance audition. Participants may also be required to do a reading from the script that includes a Standard British dialect and/or a French accent.
"The Boy Friend," a sparkling, tongue-in-cheek spoof of a 1920s musical comedy, was specifically chosen because the large cast is comprised primarily of older high school and college actors. It will be produced by professionals involved in the HACC Theatre Program and Theatre Harrisburg -- many of whom already work as part of both organizations. The partnership thus will give talented students in central Pennsylvania an opportunity to work, learn and interact directly with experienced theatre professionals including Theatre Harrisburg Artistic Director Thomas Hostetter, internationally recognized choreographer Judy Williams Henry, costume designer Paul Foltz, set designer Victor Capecce, lighting designer Lori Friedlander and music director Eric Dundore.
