The Koresh Dance Company, renowned for its dazzling skill and technical prowess, comes to the Rose Lehrman Arts Center at the Harrisburg Campus of HACC - Central Pennsylvania's Community College. The powerhouse group from Philadelphia performs their dazzling dance on Tuesday, February 15, at 7:30pm. They will draw their audience into a fantastic world that balances darkly intense with lighthearted and sensual dances.

Founded in 1991 by Israeli born choreographer and artistic director Ronen Koresh, this troupe presents its audiences with an exciting and emotional blend of ballet, modern and jazz molded into a style of choreography that is both eloquent and explosive. There is something for everyone in Koresh's exhilarating performances. The "in your face" style of the company keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.

Koresh performances feature an eclectic repertoire of work by Ronen Koresh, as well as guest artists such as world-renowned choreographer Donald Byrd and Brian Sanders of MOMIX and Junk. In each performance, Mr. Koresh strives to offer his audiences a balance of dark and intense, lighthearted, and sensual pieces to create a varied show that everyone will enjoy. The company's critically acclaimed work attracts a continually increasing audience across the nation, and Koresh's reputation for passion and outstanding technique regularly results in sold-out performances. The company presents bi-annual home season concerts, and performs on tour at various national festivals, performing arts centers, university performance venues, and charity benefits.

The company's dancers are chosen for their spirit, sensitivity and technical capacity to perform Koresh's demanding and eclectic repertoire. Many of the dancers are the product of Philadelphia's University of the Arts. Mr. Koresh frequently collaborates with Philadelphia composers John Levis and Daniel Bacon. He has created fifteen major new works in the past four years, which recently include such major social concerns as the holocaust, interracial relationships, wartime crisis and the danger of reliance on technological industry.

Since its debut at the Philadelphia Dance Alliance's twentieth Anniversary Showcase, the company has performed at the Merriam, Mandell, MTI and Drake theatres. They have been enthusiastically received at Lincoln Center, Trump's Castle in Atlantic City, and the Smith Opera house in Geneva and the New York /Florida Dance Festival in Tampa Florida.

Members of the Koresh Dance Company will lead a private dance master class for students at the Harrisburg Dance Conservatory on Monday, February 14 from 5:30 to 7pm.
