The Student Nursing Organization at HACC-Gettysburg Campus has collected new and used nursing and healthcare textbooks to assist a new baccalaureate nursing program at Debub University in Awassa, Ethiopia. The students also raised almost $200 to cover shipping expenses. Packing some of the books are (left to right) Elizabeth Crawford, representative to the Student Nursing Organization; Gretchen Plotkin, clinical faculty member for pediatrics and nursing fundamentals; and Karen Hamm, nursing program secretary.

The contact between the two programs was established through one of Plotkin's former students who is now a teacher at Debub University. HACC's associate degree registered nursing program opened at the Gettysburg Campus in 2003.
