YORK, Pa. HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, is proud to launch a new certificate program in civil construction technology for students who want to learn in-demand skills and enter the workforce quickly.

This program prepares individuals for employment in construction and civil engineering technology. Through a combination of in-class instruction, hands-on labs and field work, the certificate provides an introduction to all aspects of the construction processes behind infrastructure projects.

Graduates of the program will be prepared for careers as:

  • Civil engineering technologists and technicians
  • Construction equipment operators
  • Excavators
  • First-line supervisors of construction trades and extraction workers
  • Paving, surfacing and tamping equipment operators
  • Pile driver operators
  • Pipelayers

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall employment in construction and extraction occupations is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations from 2024 to 2034. The median annual salary for workers in the industry was $58,360 in May 2024.
