Ball in the House
Local high school vocal ensembles perform on selections
Oct. 15, 2010
HARRISBURG — Ball in the House is five guys, five voices, that’s it. The soul-pop/R&B vocal band reaches millions and is one of the most successful independent vocal bands working today.
HACC’s Live at Rose Lehrman presents the Boston-based a cappella group at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 4 and 5, in the Rose Lehrman Arts Center on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
Each concert will feature special songs with a select high school vocal ensemble. Newport High School’s Innovations will perform with the five vocalists Thursday, Nov. 4. Central Dauphin East High School’s Choraliers will perform Friday, Nov. 5. Ball in the House is committed to reaching out to local schools with the message that “music can be cool.” They encourage students to never give up on their talents and dreams, to keep reaching and creating.
Last year Ball in the House was in the national spotlight when it won NBC-TV’s TODAY Show talent contest, and competed on season four of “America’s Got Talent.” They also can be heard on national TV and radio as the voices behind the Kraft Cool Whip commercials.
In addition to television and radio, Ball in the House follows a diverse calendar, performing from theaters to performing arts centers, fairs and festivals, to opening for some of the biggest acts in the world. They have opened for and performed with such artists as The Beach Boys, Fantasia, The Jonas Brothers, Gladys Knight, Lionel Richie, Jessica Simpson, Blondie, The Temptations, Smoky Robinson and KC & The Sunshine Band.
