Harrisburg  – Radius, HACC Gallery and Museum Shop turns four in February. To celebrate, discounts, special events and featured artists are scheduled throughout the month at the gallery and shop on the ground floor of the State Museum of Pennsylvania, Third and North streets.
Radius, a partnership between HACC and the Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission, is now twice the size it was four years ago and carries the work of more than 60 craftsmen, including HACC students, members of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and other talented artists from around the state.
All the items on display are for sale. Hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon-4:30 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 787-5590 or go to www.radiusgallery.com

Featured Craftsman: Doug Starry of Gettysburg: chair making
  • Feb. 1-28
    Doug Starry worked as an apprentice with his master craftsman father then took over the business of chair making from his father in 1985. Maintained the Shaker-like technique of constructing a chair with no glue and pressure fitting the chair together using only four nails. He uses many of the trees that grow on his 40-acre property.
  • Artist open house and demonstration 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb.
    HACC’s Featured Craftsmen is supported by a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and its Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts program.
Radius Showcase Series: Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen: Juried Ceramicists
Continues until Feb. 28. Exhibits the work of eight juried members of the guild.
  • 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15
    Panel discussion by the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. Discussion is for artists and craftsmen who are interested in joining the guild. Panelists will discuss the history of the guild, opportunities for artists and craftsmen and guild shows.
  • Next Radius Showcase Series: Ukrainian craft of egg decorating - Pysanky
    March 1-April 30
    Wednesday, Feb. 18: Deadline to enter items for the showcase. Artists are limited to four entries, submitted either by e-mail or on a disk and sent in postal mail. There is no fee to enter; all work chosen for the showcase must be available for sale on consignment.
