Malina, who is nationally certified in therapeutic massage and bodywork, has worked as a massage therapist for more than 15 years and completed advanced training in sports massage. In addition, she holds a bachelor's degree in music therapy from West Texas State University, Canyon, TX, and a master's degree in counseling and human systems from Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL.
The timing is right for HACC to offer the Massage Therapy Training Program, according to Malina.
"Massage therapy has become increasingly mainstream in recent years as more and more people make alternative healthcare their first choice," she said. "With greater acceptance has come increased demand and the need for quality educational programs like the one offered at HACC."
HACC will hold an open house for the Massage Therapy Program on Wednesday, October 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Three Penn Center, 349 Wiconisco Street, Harrisburg. Interested students will have the opportunity to meet with teachers, see the lab, obtain financial aid information and register for the first session, which begins on January 16.
