HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, has announced its schedule of upcoming GED orientation sessions. The orientation is a requirement for all students interested in attending any of the free GED preparation classes the college offers at various times throughout the year.

With 95 percent of American colleges, universities and employers considering the GED equivalent to a high school diploma, HACC understands the importance of serving area residents as an Official GED Testing Center, according to Lori Fair, Ed.D, dean, Adult Basic Education and Developmental Studies.

"We offer these orientation sessions as a means for people to become familiar with the process of getting their GED," said Fair. "There are many who are looking to obtain their GED, but may not be certain of the first step. Prospective students can come to an orientation session and find out and learn that we're here to help.

"We can guide students every step of the way. In the end the GED provides the pathway for lifelong learning. There are many reasons people take the GED tests, such as to enter post secondary schools, vocational or training programs, for employment purposes or personal satisfaction."
