HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, will demonstrate how easy it is to earn a quality education during an open house at its Lancaster Campus on Saturday, April 16. The campus, which is located off the Old Philadelphia Pike Exit of Route 30, will be open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"Day, evening, weekend, Internet and video courses provide a flexible schedule for full and part-time students," said Maureen Campbell, associate dean of enrollment management services. "That flexible schedule combined with low tuition costs and small class size make it easy to earn degrees, earn credit for transfer, obtain job skills training or start a new career."

Counselors and faculty from the Lancaster Campus will be on hand during the open house to answer questions about academic programs, transfer information and course scheduling. Visitors also will have the opportunity to tour the on-campus childcare center, investigate a mock crime scene, learn about workforce and economic development programs and take a campus tour, which includes the Library and Learning Center, Allied Health/Nursing Labs, Biology and Chemistry labs.

Campus tours of the Main Building will begin at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. Tours of the East Building will begin at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Other scheduled events include:

  • Admissions Session - 10:30 a.m.
  • Financial Aid Session - 11 a.m.
  • Crime Scene Processing - 11:30 a.m.
  • ECE Information Session (Keystone STARS and TEACH scholarships) - 11:30 a.m.
  • "What major is right for me?" presentation - noon

Lorie Sonnen, career specialist, will lead the presentation that helps students debunk preconceived notions they may have about choosing a major.

"I will help them focus on what their strengths and interests are and what things they need to consider in their process of self discovery," she said. "I will stress the fact that it is okay to use college as a chance to sample and test things out."

The open house is free and registration is not required. For more information, call 358-2966 or visit www.HACC.edu.
