Pinocchio, the classic tale of the puppet who longs to be a real boy, will be brought to life at the Rose Lehrman Arts Center on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC - Central Pennsylvania's Community College on Sunday, December 4 at 2pm. Enchantment Theatre Company presents this magical tale for one performance only. Following the show, everyone is invited to join Santa in the lobby for a holiday party, complete with cookies and punch. Follow the adventures of Pinocchio, the rambunctious puppet who wants to be a real boy. Imaginative storytelling and creative theatrical effects enhance this innovative production. A carved wooden puppet comes to life; Fire Eater, the Puppet Master, appears as a giant puppet; Pinocchio's nose grows to over 5 feet long; Geppetto and Pinocchio are swallowed by a huge shark; and in the end, Pinocchio is magically transformed from mischievous puppet to a caring and generous human boy.

Enchantment Theatre's production is based on Carlo Collodi's The Adventure of Pinocchio, which first appeared as a magazine serial for kids in 1881, in Italy. In 1883, it was turned into a novel and has been translated into more than 100 languages and is considered one of the most influential works of modern Italian literature.

For more than 20 years, Enchantment Theatre Company (ETC) has been producing imaginative, high quality children's theatre for families all across America. A Philadelphia-based theatrical company, ETC has focused its energy toward creating beautiful and inspiring family theatre works characterized by its unique signature blend of magic, mask, pantomime, puppetry and original music.

"It's not just the superb design work and eye popping special effects that makes Enchantment Theater's shows unique. Beautifully choreographed, the company's movement based productions effectively mix mime and dance into a stylized ballet of color and sound that entrances both the kids and their adult companions."-Philadelphia Weekly.

Since its inception in 1978, ETC has toured its original productions all over the world. It has performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Lincoln Center in New York City and the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Closer to home, the company has performed at the Academy of Music and The Kimmel Center with The Philadelphia Orchestra, at the Annenburg Center as part of the International Children's Theatre Festival. ETC has also toured in the Far East four times, performing in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. The company has appeared with major orchestras nationwide, including the Philadelphia, Atlanta, Baltimore, Houston, Minnesota, St. Louis and Oregon Symphony Orchestras and with the Boston Pops on the PBS "Christmas at the Pops" television special, which aired nationally for five years.
