Music Business Summer Camps (ages 14 and up)

Eight camps for students and professionals looking for an edge in the music business. The camps, taught by music business professionals, will be held Monday through Thursday, June 14-July 22.

Camps will include "MIDI: Computers, the Internet and You" levels 1 and 2, "Home and Studio Recording Technology" levels 1 and 2, "Music Marketing," "Songwriting and Composition" levels 1 and 2, and "Summer Church Music Workshop."

Theatre Camps for Youth

Eighteen camps for youth between 5 and 18 this summer at the Rose Lehrman Arts Center on HACC's Wildwood Campus between June 16 and July 30.

HACC's Theatre for Young People camps provide an affordable venue for area youth to celebrate the arts and gain exposure to every aspect of theatre including acting, dance, makeup, puppetry, play writing, and designing sets, costumes and lighting.

This year's lineup includes "The Theatre Experience," "Hip-Hop/Jazz Dance and Movement," "Musical Theatre," "Theatre Through Improv!," "Intensive Acting Week," "Theatre Fun," "World of Puppetry," and "Acting for the Camera."

Culinary & Baking Summer Camps

HACC will again sponsor Culinary & Baking Career Exploration Summer Camps for high school juniors and seniors interested in the food service industry.

The Culinary Camp will be held Monday, July 12 through Friday, July 16 from 9am-4pm. The Baking Camp will be held Monday, August 9 through Friday, August 13 from 9am-4pm.

Science and Healthcare Summer Camp (for 7th through 9th grade)

Harrisburg Area Community College will sponsor the Fourth Annual Science and Health Career Academy Monday, July 26 to Friday, July 30.

The academy, a camp for mature seventh, eighth and ninth graders on HACC's Wildwood Campus in Harrisburg, will expose students to vital science and healthcare careers. Students will explore the human anatomy and physiology, learn basic first aid, dissect a pig heart and lung, learn to use a microscope and take an in-depth tour of a local hospital.

Ultimate Spin Basketball Camp (for ages 9-15 years old)

NBA legends and Nike Freestyler Chris Franklin return to Harrisburg Area Community College July 26 to integrate the fundamentals of basketball and the art of freesyle while schooling participants about the importance of education and positive self esteem.

The week-long camp continues until July 30. The camp is limited to 100 boys 9- 15 years old and costs $175. Scholarships are available for qualified students.

Summer Bus Tours for history, food and book lovers, and more

Harrisburg Area Community College hosts numerous educational bus trips for families or individuals searching for fun and affordable mini-vacations between May 29 and August 14.

Trips will include "In the Footsteps of the Presidents," a two-day trip May 29 and 30 to see Mt. Vernon, Montpelier, Monticello and more; "Dad's Day Out," a bus trip to Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. on June 26, including a stop at the National World War II Memorial; "The Mighty, Historic Susquehanna," on July 16; "Structures of Grace and Charm-The Victorian Homes of Cape May," on July 30; "Sentinels of Illumination-Cape May Lighthouses" on August 6; and "A Very Special Culinary Treat and More," a trip to the Culinary Institue of America at Hyde Park on August 14.

Two tours for book lovers are scheduled: May 22, to Georgetown and 20 nearby bookstores with dinner overlooking the Potomac, and June 12, a "Greenwich Village Bookstore Adventure."

"Great Tastes of Wine and Food Festival" is June 27, taking travelers to the 14th annual Great Tastes of Pennsylvania Wine and Food Festival at the Split Rock Resort located at Lake Harmony. Participants must be 21 years of age or older.

The kids don't have to have all the fun: Summer Camps for adults

For grown-ups who are looking for something new, an adventure, a break from the ordinary or a new hobby, Harrisburg Area Community College offers summer camps.

The camps are 3 or 5 sessions held over various weeks between June 14 to August 19 and will include related field trips to Philadelphia, Lancaster, Washington, D.C., New York City and New Jersey.

Camps will include "100 Years of Film," "Interior Decorating Emphasizing Today's Design," "Focusing on Our Nation's Capital: Black and White Photography for Beginners using C41," "Pennsylvania Painters of International Fame," "The Live Dramas of TV's Golden Age" and "Decorating on a Dime."
