The Seven Lively Artists began to paint together in the mid 1950s and held their first annual show in 1957. Of the original seven, three are still living and involved with the group, which now numbers twelve. They still paint and exhibit together as well as individually. Most have been or still are professionally involved in the arts, and many serve on boards or teach at area art associations and art centers.
The HACC exhibit will include works by Earl Blust, Dominick Brandt, Joseph Dudding, Karl Foster, Jonathan Frazier, Frank Hebert, David Henry, Donald P. Lenker, Jr., John McNulty, Edward Webber, and Robert Hughes. Each has his own medium, and their subject matter varies from landscapes to life drawings to still life and florals.
The Seven Lively Artists regularly paint together, critique each others efforts, and share lunch on Fridays. "We challenge each other to study and capture something of the times and places in which we live and work," they say, and their "numerous works of art serve to inform, instruct, and most of all, bring pleasure to present and future generations."
Exhibit hours at Gettysburg Campus HACC are 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to noon on Fridays. For more information, call 337-3855.
