The seminar features published speakers, researchers and historians. Representative James Roebach, of Philadelphia, will be the keynote speaker at noon.
The seminars will focus on Pennsylvania's leading role in the anti-slavery movement, local preservation efforts, the National Park Service's new program to identify sites, and Gettysburg's significant role in the fugitive slaves' fight for freedom. The work of historical figures, including Congressman Thaddeus Stevens, and anti-slavery supporter, Reverend Dr. Samuel Simon Schmucker, will be discussed.
Cost for the seminar is $49 and includes a buffet lunch. A separate dinner is scheduled at Gettysburg's Dobbin House. To register for the seminar, or for more information, contact the Gettysburg Campus at (717) 337-3855, or send email to Carol Gerkin, Coordinator, Continuing Education, at crgerkin@hacc.edu.
