The 77th police academy of Harrisburg Area Community College and the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank will sponsor a blood drive at the Senator John J. Shumaker Public Safety Center at Harrisburg Area Community College. The public is encouraged donate blood on Friday, July 28, between 8:30am and 6pm.

The blood drive is a response to replacing the blood used to save the life of a cadet's brother, and to help replenish a general blood shortage in this region.

Individuals donating blood are encouraged to call HACC's police academy at (717)780-1955 to schedule an approximate time.

The HACC Police Academy, the second largest academy in the state, provides the 13-week basic training course mandated for all Pennsylvania municipal police officers.
