Celebrating Women Winning the Right to Vote - Student Programming Board

Date: Tuesday March 8, 2022 (This event occurred in the past.)
Time: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
  • Description:

Join us for a Women's History Month presentation about the greatest nonviolent revolution in the history of our country - the fight for American women to win the right to vote. This 72-year battle culminated with Tennessee's ratification on Aug. 18, 1920. The United States then joined 26 other countries which had enfranchised women. Paula F. Casey of Memphis, TN, will present an upbeat and informative session on the importance of the woman suffrage movement.

The lessons we learn from the suffragists are relevant today. Casey discusses the dearth of statuary about women and highlights the placement of suffragist public art. She is a state coordinator for the National Votes for Women Trail (National Votes for Women Trail – National Collaborative for Women's History Sites (ncwhs.org) and co-founder of the Tennessee Woman Suffrage Heritage Trail - www.tnwomansuffrageheritagetrail.com.

    All are welcome.
