Irish Dance: A History & Live Demonstration - Student Involvement

    The Irish step dancers of the Paloma School of Irish Dance will present a whirlwind introduction to Irish dance, including its history, costumes, and traditions. Featuring lightning-fast demonstrations of both hard shoe and soft shoe styles, the interactive performance traces the lineage of Irish dance from its traditional role in 18th-century Ireland to its success on the international stage. In addition, participants learn the first step of the Irish jig and learn some of the Irish Gaelic languages.
