Brown Bag Session: U.S./México border immersion experience

Oct. 23, Noon-12:45 p.m., HACC Gettysburg Campus, Robert C. Hoffman Community Room

Yeimi Gagliardi shares her experience with the immersion program hosted by the Boarder Servant Corps in El Paso, TX. Her trip was possible thanks to the Gettysburg College-Center for Public Service. The presentation features highlights from interviews and meetings with the border patrol, immigrants living in El Paso, people living in colonias on both sides of the border, human rights workers and other community leaders. Yeimi is a Latino health educator in Adams County for WellSpan Health. She also serves as chairperson for the Latino Services Task Force and the Tobacco Prevention Task Force of Healthy Adams County where she leads and collaborates, with other community based organizations, in the development, implementation and evaluation of initiatives to reach underserved communities in Adams County.

Lancaster Campus, Polkadelphia German Band

Not your ordinary oompah band, Polkadelphia plays both traditional tunes as well as modern cover songs by artists like Radiohead and the Beatles.  Polkadelphia have played at various city festivals including the Kahn Park Summer Concert Series and the 40th Street Summer Series.  Each time, they whipped the audience into a waltzing, polkaing frenzy with their combination of classic polkas and polkafied classics.
