High School Students

Do you want to start earning college credits while you are in high school?  HACC offers dual enrollment options for high school students looking to enhance their academic profile, save money on a future bachelor's degree or just get a jump start on life after graduation.

Depending on which dual enrollment option you select, you can earn college credit at your high school, at a HACC campus or online.

Fall 2021 CHS tuition due date is Sept. 22, 2021.

If you are a continuing College in the High School student who is looking to take more classes at HACC, please contact start@hacc.edu to begin registration for the next term.

Are you a high school junior or senior who wants to take college classes at your high school? We offer the courses at a reduced cost - only $76.50 per credit in Fall 2021!!

Why should I participate?
  • You will have a head start with college credits. CHS courses can help ease your transition from high school to college.
  • Your college credits may count towards a HACC program or may transfer to other colleges and universities.
  • You receive access to HACC facilities including the library, online resources, academic counseling and free tutoring services.
  • You will learn to manage your time and become familiar with the format of a college class.
  • You will expose yourself to college-level coursework that can help you plan for further education.

What are my next steps to participate in CHS?

Please follow these simple steps to apply.

Is a student able to enroll or pay for a College in the High School (CHS) course following the completion of the course?

No. High school students taking CHS classes are notified multiple times about their course registration status and payment or nonpayment status. High school contacts and CHS teachers are also notified of student status. Retroactive registration and/or payment for the course will not be issued after deadlines have passed.

For fall 2021, CHS students MUST pay for classes by Sept. 22, 2021, and final roster verification will be by Oct. 22, 2021.

What high schools participate in College in the High School?

Many high schools across HACC’s 11-county region participate. Please contact your high school counselor to determine if your school participates.

Our Dual Enrollment program gives qualified high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to receive high school and college credit at the same time. Courses are offered at a reduced rate of $127.50 per credit in Fall 2021!!

Your high school must recommend you for the program, and you must meet course prerequisites through HACC's placement testing, SAT or ACT test scores.

Why should I participate?

  • Get ahead like Sadira Stallings! You can enroll in credit courses at the 100-level or higher (some courses may require placement testing and/or pre-requisites). You may not take developmental coursework (classes below 100 level).
  • Enjoy flexibility. You can take college credit courses at any HACC campus, an off-site location or online.
  • Fulfill high school graduation requirements. The credits you earn may satisfy high school graduation requirements. These course credits also become part of your permanent HACC record. Your college credits may count towards a HACC program or may transfer to other colleges and universities.
  • Experience the college setting and ease your transition from high school to college. Classes consist of dual enrollment students and traditional HACC college students.
  • Become familiar with the college class format. You will also learn how to manage your time.
  • Use the college-level coursework and HACC’s student services. These services and experiences can help you decide what you want to do in the future.

Can I participate in HACC’s Honors Program?
Yes! You have the opportunity to take honors-level courses. Available courses are listed on each term’s class schedule with an "H" indicator after the course number. Please visit our Honors Program webpage or contact an admissions counselor for more information.
