About HACC

Institutional Research and Assessment

The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment has been joined with the Office of Curriculum Compliance and Assessment to lead and promote the College’s Institutional Effectiveness efforts.

The primary role of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment is to address the informational, data analysis, and survey needs of the College community. We conduct a wide variety of research that focuses on students, staff, outcomes, budget, demographic analysis and projections, accreditation, mandated reports, and other college-related studies.

We wish to be viewed as a comprehensive resource and service for the College community, government agencies, and accrediting bodies. We provide information and institutional characteristics to support decision-making needs throughout the College.

"At its best, institutional research is the center of gravity for all of the university’s analytical and decision support activities—the internal and the external, the formative and the summative, the administrative and the academic. By filling these needs, IR illuminates all the institution’s endeavors." (Volkwein, Liu, & Woodell, 2012)

One approach by which we provide assistance in various assessment projects and activities is through our oversight of the College’s assessment management system (TK20). Others include, but are not limited to:

  • the mining of internal data
  • obtaining information from government, industry, and other resources
  • providing statistical analysis and interpretation of data
  • facilitating research projects and studies across the College
