The Future of HACC

The Future of HACC

HACC’s future is bright, but it will be different.

Higher education has fundamentally changed since COVID-19 pandemic, and institutions across the country are adapting to new realities. To remain strong, relevant and fiscally responsible, HACC must evolve as well. Standing still is not an option if we are to continue serving our students and communities for generations to come.

We are confident that HACC:

  • Will remain the community’s college for years to come.
  • Is choosing to lead through change, not avoid it.
  • Is making necessary decisions now to ensure long-term sustainability in a challenging higher education landscape.

Across the nation, colleges that delayed difficult decisions are facing closure. Our responsibility is to ensure that HACC is not one of them.

At the same time, we recognize a fundamental truth: we can hold multiple realities at once.

We can care deeply about colleagues impacted by position eliminations and take the actions required to secure the College’s future. These decisions are not made lightly. They are guided by a commitment to stewardship, responsibility and the long-term success of our students.

Our Responsibility Moving Forward
As stewards of this institution, we have a fiduciary responsibility to position HACC for long-term sustainability. That means making thoughtful, sometimes difficult choices today so that we can continue to serve our communities tomorrow.

What Will Not Change
Even as we adapt, our core commitments remain unwavering. HACC will continue to:

  • Put students first. We exist for one reason - our students. We will continue removing barriers to completion and strengthening outcomes that lead to meaningful careers and lives.
  • Align programs with workforce needs. Using data and regional insights, we will ensure our academic offerings meet the evolving demands of employers and the economy.
  • Leverage technology to improve the student experience. We will enhance systems, streamline processes and meet students where they are, efficiently and effectively.
  • Right-size our physical footprint. We will evaluate and adjust our facilities to reduce debt and align with how today’s students learn and engage.
  • Strengthen support systems for students. Through scholarships, the HACC Foundation, and resources like the Consultation, Advocacy, Referral and Empowerment (CARE) Center, we will continue to support students holistically.
  • Communicate with transparency and accuracy. We are committed to providing timely, factual information. We encourage you to come directly to HACC for updates rather than relying on external or unofficial sources.
