Mace Bearer
Proudly born and raised in York, Pennsylvania, Michael Muldrow followed in his father's footsteps to become a second-generation police officer serving on the streets of the City of York. Michael’s career has spanned over 25 decorated years, with stints on the municipal, county and federal levels.
During the past decade, Muldrow served in the schools and created the York City School Police. He found his niche leading the team of resource officers and monitors and developed initiatives aimed at serving the community and supporting urban youth.
These experiences and his passion for community culminated in his appointment and return to the York City Police Department as commissioner. Despite challenges, Michael has introduced initiatives such as neighborhood walks, therapy dogs, Fall Fest, the city-wide Santa drive-by, mental health counselors, free cameras for seniors, the new camera system in Penn Park, the "Remember Me" cold case show and the revamping of the Group Violence Initiative program. Michael has also worked to increase the number of minority officers and prioritize respectful, responsible, relationship-driven policing.
Even now, Michael is most proud of his beginnings as a city kid. He uses his story, time, talents and treasure to build bridges between systems such as schools, law enforcement, government, the church and community.
Michael does all this while continuing to use his life to serve the Lord, use his position to platform social change and his influence to promote his beloved community.
