“[HACC] has proven to me that I can succeed in college even when the odds are against me.”
At one point in her life, Christie Bathurst believed college was out of the question.
“I grew up with a special needs sister, so money was tight. There were no funds for college so I thought it was impossible. I moved away from home when I was 20 and lived with friends, got my own place when I was 22, had a full-time job and fully supported myself.”
If HACC was not an option, Christie said she probably “would just keep working in the factory on the production floor as a career.”
Since HACC is an option, Christie can take business classes online and continue to work a full-time job that supports her independence. She said, “I chose HACC because it’s affordable, close by if I need to go in and talk to professors and very flexible with my work schedule.”
Christie has turned challenges into opportunities. “Having a full-time job, my own apartment and going through school makes me learn to appreciate life,” she said.Explore your career options at HACC. Please contact an admissions counselor to visit a campus today!
