There are noncredit community education classes to make all this new technology easier to learn and manage at the Gettysburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College.
Using a Digital Camera will be offered on Saturday, Nov. 12, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Cost is $105. Students are encouraged to bring their own digital camera and accessories to class.
This course includes a discussion of the features found on digital cameras and tips on how to take great pictures. Participants will learn basic editing techniques using computer software in order to turn simple snapshots into cherished keepsakes.
Introduction to Home Computer Security will be offered Monday, Nov. 21, 9 a.m.-noon, and repeated Tuesday, Nov. 22, 6-9 p.m. Cost is $49. Windows Introduction or similar experience is required.
Participants will learn some practical tips for insuring the security of their files in a home computer environment. The workings of cookies and cache, firewalls, spam and anti-virus security will be discussed, as well as the differences between dial-up, DSL, and cable connections.
