What is the Launch YOUR Future Grant (LYF)?

The Launch Your Future Grant (LYF) is a need-based grant that is funded by the HACC Foundation.

What is the purpose of the LYF Grant?

New students to HACC may miss the opportunity to apply for scholarships due to deadlines for HACC scholarships. The purpose of this grant is to support  new students considering HACC who may not be eligible for other types of grants due to their income.

The LYF Grant is FREE money towards student educational expenses for their first year at HACC!

Who is eligible for the LYF Grant?

Eligible students must meet and maintain all of the following requirements:
Students must:

  • Complete the FAFSA application beginning Oct. 1
  • Have no prior HACC credits
  • Enroll as a degree-seeking student
  • Have a demonstrated need which is determined by FAFSA information
  • NOT have a PELL eligible Expected Family Contribution (EFC), which is determined by the FAFSA
  • Must complete the grant application and thank-you letter by deadline
  • Be enrolled in at least half time (six credit hours)
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) for the duration of the award
  • Have a H number and access to their myHACC portal

What is the amount of the LYF award?

The amount of the award will be based on the budget allocation each year. For 2020-21, the award is $1,500.00 for the year divided between two terms. Students must meet the eligibility requirements for each term to receive the full award amount.

Is the LYF Grant available for spring term?

Students who maintain financial aid eligibility and meet the term registration deadlines will be eligible to receive their spring LYF award.

How do students apply for the LYF Grant?

HACC identifies and notifies eligible students. Eligible students will receive an email via their HAWKmail account.

Is an application and thank-you note required?

Yes, students who are offered the LYF Grant must follow and complete an online application and thank-you letter by the assigned deadline.

Students must agree to the awarding terms and conditions listed on the application. Failure to agree to mandatory terms will result in a forfeit of the grant funds.

When is the LYF Grant available?

The LYF Grant offers will begin in the early part of each calendar year for the following fall semester.

I missed the deadline to complete the application and thank-you letter. What happens now?

We are not able to extend the LYF Grant deadlines.

I am the parent/spouse of a student. Why are you not able to provide me with any information?

  • HACC follows all government guidelines in regards to student privacy. These guidelines fall under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). FERPA is also extended to minor students.
  • The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) protects the privacy of student records. FERPA protects students and ensures their educational records are accurate and secure. FERPA applies to institutions that receive federal aid by the Secretary of Education.
