I joined the HACC Foundation Board in February 2019.

How long have you lived in the area?
Off and on – for the past 40 years. I have lived in other parts of the country and will continue to do so, but I have maintained a residence in the Harrisburg area for 40 years.
Why did you decide to become a member of the HACC Foundation Board?
Without a doubt, I am in debt to HACC for the faith the professors and administrators had in me. Their encouragement made a significant difference in my life. I promised myself that when I had the opportunity I would find a way to support this educational institution. I am grateful to be able to do so now.
What is your professional background, including current employer and position?
I am a retired from Columbia University where I served as the Vice President for Strategic Communications and Construction Business Initiatives and as an Introduction to Negotiation instructor for the School of Professional Studies. I will continue to teach at Columbia for the foreseeable future. Additionally, in this semi-retirement stage, I have a consulting and training business, Meaningful Communications Matter, LLC. It is more important than ever to engage in positive, unifying and uplifting internal and external communications. I am also an author. I have published two books, numerous articles, workbooks and guides, and I intend to keep writing.
What do you enjoy the most about being a member of the HACC Foundation Board?
I love learning about all of the great ways HACC supports students achieve their academic goals. We encourage faculty to develop innovative and strategic teaching methods that engage students who represent all walks of life. It is exciting to help fund these creative initiatives. Not only does HACC provide a high quality, low cost education, we constantly discuss ways to bring even greater value to students and meet current and future workforce demands.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I read, write and cook. I enjoy learning.
