“HACC classes are often taught by professionals — particularly in the business school. I felt like my professors were more down-to-earth and in-touch than many of the professors I had later in my education.”

Patience, acceptance and tolerance are three guiding principles that have helped Matthew Cellucci on his way from his first college experience to studying business administration and general studies at HACC, and, later, to a bachelor’s degree in economics.

Matthew, a recovering alcoholic and cross-dresser/drag queen/gender non-conforming person, gives credit to her recovery community toward helping her start on her HACC journey. “I honestly wouldn't have started at HACC if it weren't for beginning my journey in recovery,” Matthew said.

From the start, Matthew’s eyes were always set on the future. “I chose HACC because it was affordable, close to home, and offered a very similar curriculum to the school I eventually received my BA from,” Matthew said.

Along the way, HACC’s instructors helped pave the way for Matthew’s success. “HACC classes are often taught by professionals — particularly in the business school. I felt like my professors were more down-to-earth and in-touch than many of the professors I had later in my education,” he said.

After HACC, Matthew graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in economics. Currently, she serves as a consultant.
