“I decided to attend HACC to give me more time to try different majors to see what would fit me the most.”

During her senior year of high school, Jenny Nguyen was unsure which academic path she wanted to pursue.

“I didn’t know what major I wanted to be in,” she shared. “I decided to attend HACC to give me more time to try different majors to see what would fit me the most.”

At HACC, Jenny benefited from small class sizes, flexible scheduling and student organizations that allowed her to explore different career options while staying involved outside the classroom.

As an international student, Jenny faced challenges that required patience and persistence as she adjusted to a new academic and cultural environment. “The first challenges I experienced were language and cultural barriers,” she said. “It took a lot of learning, observing and stepping out of my comfort zone to communicate with others.”

Those early experiences helped shape how she approached her education and personal growth. “The challenges taught me how to be independent and brave, how to work hard and smart, and how to stay motivated and enthusiastic,” she shared.

Jenny earned an Associate in Science in Chemistry from HACC in August 2018, then continued her education at Drexel University, where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. She is now working as a research and development engineer.

Jenny’s time at HACC helped prepare her for the next steps in her education and career. Today, she encourages students to give themselves time and trust the process.
