Join us online on April 21, 2021, for HACC’s Free College Day to have your questions answered, hear from HACC students and even attend a college class!

 

What’s in store on April 21?

We have various sessions throughout the day from which you can choose! You could even win $500 towards your fall tuition! We will be selecting 25 winners live throughout the day! You can attend any or all sessions that interest you!

When you attend our Free College Day and complete the post-event survey, you will receive a free HACC t-shirt!

Note: An individual can only win one of the giveaways. If a name is selected more than once, another winner will be randomly selected.

Attend a crash course in media.

Graphic and Interactive Design Presentation

Learn about the Graphic Design Certificate and the Graphic and Interactive Design Associate in Applied Science degree; see a slideshow of students' work; and get a glimpse of our state-of-the-arts graphic design Mac computer lab.

Nursing Presentation

Hear a discussion on nursing ethics.

Library Resources Presentation

Learn about library resources, including access to librarians and resources while in a remote or virtual classroom. There will be an emphasis on connecting with HACC librarians and other academic resources (including streaming video, newspapers and library guides).

Anatomy and Physiology Demonstration

Attend a demonstration and see how we are doing anatomy and physiology labs remotely.

Computer Information Systems Demonstration

Attend a demonstration of an Excel project using functions and autofill options.

Web Development and Design Demonstration

See a demonstration on creating a simple webpage – something we would do in CIS 110, WEB 102 or a web course.

Science First-Year Seminar Class Attend a first-year seminar for science majors and learn about time management.
Mathematics Class Participate in a college algebra class.
Communication Presentation How to be an assertive communicator. Someone cuts in line in front of you. What do you say? How do you say it? Or your teacher has given you a bad grade on a paper, but you feel you deserve better. How do you approach your teacher? What do you say? In this session, you will learn a quick, easy communication method (E.R.A.) that teaches you how to think on your feet and communicate your wants and rights to others in a confident and professional manner.
Honors Program Presentation Learn about the Honors Program. Hear about the requirements and benefits of being an Honors student.
Marketing Presentation Marketing is so much more than advertising and social media. A vital part of any business, marketing involves decisions on creating, distributing, pricing and promoting products with a select group of customers in mind. This session will help students understand the role and importance of marketing in business decisions.
Surgical Technology Demonstration Take a virtual tour of the lab.

Business Presentation Take an Introduction to Business course on Financing your Business: Shark Tank
Communication Presentation Bullying, break-ups, family demands, friend drama and the list goes on! The challenges you face as a teen are endless! In this 30-minute session, you will learn a quick strategy to help you communicate better and (potentially) solve one or two of your problems. The Assertive Communication Method is legit - no cap! Check it out!
Computer Science Presentation Attend an introduction to computer science presentation and participate in a question-and-answer discussion about the college experience.
Engineering Presentation Join our first-year HACC engineering students in engineering orientation class. An industry speaker will be giving a presentation about their engineering career as a chemical engineer at Dupont Corporation. If you are interested in the field of engineering, you don't want to miss this!
Paramedic Presentation Attend a discussion with the Paramedic Program director and see paramedic students in the class and/or lab.
Respiratory Therapy Presentation Attend a live presentation about the Respiratory Therapy Program and learn about the respiratory lab, equipment and procedures. You will also have an opportunity to speak with a current student.
Yoga and Pilates Demonstration Ask questions and try some yoga poses or Pilates exercises. Experience what these courses are like in a virtual setting.

Computer Technology Presentation Hear a discussion on the National Cyber League and how participation is part of our Security Fundamentals course. See a demonstration on a few challenges, such as open source intelligence, password cracking and web application exploitation.
English Presentation Conspiracy Theories: How do we separate fact from fiction? In this session, participants will learn about the science of conspiracy theories (why do people believe them?) and tools for sorting through conflicting and confusing information in a complex information ecosystem.
Music Business Presentation Learn about careers in the music industry and entertainment field.
Respiratory Therapy Presentation Attend a live presentation of respiratory lab, equipment and procedures, and speak with a current student.

Philosophy Presentation

"Remaining Calm In an Anxious World: Stoic Virtue and Tranquility"

In this short lecture, I will offer a brief overview of the philosophic school of Stoicism. We'll look at a few key figures from Hellenic Greece and Rome, and later explore what Stoicism offers to address anxiety, anger, frustration and other afflictions of the soul that undermine our tranquility.

By completing the online registration, you will be able to attend any session of interest. You are encouraged to visit any or all sessions.

After registering for the event, you will receive an email with instructions on how to log in to each session. Please register for the event by April 21, 2021.
