Harrisburg Area Community College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The most recent Middle State Commission action, on June 21, 2018, was to reaffirm accreditation and to commend the institution for the quality of self-study process and report. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2026-2027.

HACC’s Middle States Reaccreditation Self-Study Team Visit – March 18-21, 2018
From March 18-21, 2018, an eight-member Middle States team visited the College to review the its compliance with the Middle States Accreditation Standards and Requirements of Affiliation. Guided by the Colleges Mission, the team reviewed the Self Study report, supporting documents, and met with students, faculty, trustees, and various college personnel. The criteria for the Self-Study and the team review are documented in the Middle States Accreditation Standards and Requirements of Affiliation, which include:

Harrisburg Area Community College has been accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) since 1967. Accreditation is important because:
Middle States conducts ongoing evaluations of accredited colleges to ensure that the institutions are meeting the accreditation standards. The evaluation process is continuous; however, once every eight years it requires a self-examination (Self-Study) which culminates in a four-day campus visit by a team of peer reviewers.
