Community educators, business and professional employees, and students preparing for professional careers are invited to participate in two upcoming "Education and Diversity" workshops at the Gettysburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College.

Robert Torres, Deputy Secretary for Administration in the Pennsylvania Department of Health, will lead the first workshop on Thursday, April 10. His talk, "The Importance of Education," will be held from 5-6 p.m.

"Diversity in the Classroom and Workplace" is the topic of the second workshop from noon-2 p.m. Thursday, April 17. The speakers are Norman Bristol-Colon, Executive Director for the Pennsylvania Governor's Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs, and Cindy Pol, Human Resources Director at Martin Library in York, who is a presenter and secretary for the York County Hispanic Coalition and a member of the Pennsylvania Statewide Latino Coalition.

"These speakers are well-known throughout the state, and we're very honored that they have agreed to share their knowledge and expertise with our students and the community," said Marizol Jimenez-Fotopoulos, a HACC-Gettysburg student who also works as the campus Bilingual Student Liaison.

These events are coordinated by the student services office at HACC-Gettysburg Campus to support the campus' focus on diversity and bilingual learning.

Both workshops will take place in Community Room 109 at the HACC-Gettysburg Campus. Seating is limited, and RSVPs are recommended to Jimenez-Fotopoulos at the e-mail address below call or 717-337-3855 x 3050.
