HACC to offer GED classes in Spanish during spring semester

Dec. 23, 2005
Spanish-speaking individuals planning to complete their GED can attend HACC's GED classes in Spanish at three locations during the spring semester. The courses will be offered during two eight-week sessions, the first beginning January 11 and the second on March 22.

In Harrisburg, HACC's classes are offered on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for both eight-week sessions at the Community Center for Technology and the Arts, 1523 North 4th Street. Classes at the Mt. Pleasant Hispanic Center, 301 South 13th Street, will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. during the first session, and at the same time on Wednesdays and Fridays during the second session.

HACC's Lebanon Campus will offer the classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. during both eight-week sessions.

"These classes are just one of the many ways that HACC responds to the needs that have been identified within our campus communities," explained Lori A. Fair, PhD, dean, Adult Basic Education and Developmental Studies. "By offering the classes in Spanish, students can maintain full-time employment and meet their family and educational goals without language being a barrier."

Pre-registration is not necessary for the Spanish GED classes. Students will register when they arrive on the first day of class. For more information, call HACC's office of Adult Basic Education and Developmental Studies at 780-2475.
