Engineering Career Day will be held on February 24, from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in Cooper Student Center room 114 on HACC's Harrisburg Campus.
"We have mailed out invitations to nearly 200 high schools throughout the area and expect up to 150 students to attend this annual event," explained C. Renae Brown, MS, CCNA, MCP, NSNS, assistant professor and program coordinator, computer networking technologies, of HACC's business, engineering, and technologies division. "Our purpose is to provide career information to students and help them make the right course selections in high school and beyond."
Sponsored by the college's business, engineering and technologies division, the event gives students the opportunity to talk with professional engineers who are members of the Harrisburg Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE).
Participants also will choose from a variety of informative lectures that they can attend to learn more about architectural, computer, civil, electronic, mechanical, and environmental engineering. The engineers will discuss employment opportunities in their field and in related technological areas, as well as present information concerning the educational and vocational training requirements for the occupations that they represent.
HACC professors will offer lectures on nanofabrication and geospatial technologies.
Following the lectures, students will have the opportunity to meet with HACC program coordinators regarding the various technology programs offered at the college.
Because there is limited space available in each of the informational sessions, early registration is suggested. For more information or to register, call 780-1956 or send an email to professor Renae Brown at the email address below.
