Personal care homes are residences that provide shelter, meals and assistance to older people or individuals with physical, behavioral health or cognitive disabilities who are unable to care for themselves.
As an administrator, you are responsible for the management of a personal care home. This includes the health and overall well-being of the residents, remaining compliant with state regulations, implementing policies and procedures and ensuring it is a safe environment.

Our 100-hour program prepares you to:
- Meet the state defined qualifications required prior to certification as a PCH Administrator.
To be an administrator, you must have at least one of the following:
- License as a registered nurse from the Department of State
- Associate degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university
- License as a licensed practical nurse from the Department of State and one year of work experience
- License as a nursing home administrator from the Department of State
- General development diploma or high school diploma and two years’ direct care or administrative experience in the human services field
You must provide the office with a copy of your current CPR/AED/First Aid card. This is no longer included in our program and you must provide documentation showing completion of your courses prior to the licensure exam. There are NO exceptions to this requirement.
Our program is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services to meet the requirements set forth in the regulations, effective October 2005.
Upon completing your certificate, you can continue your education and earn an associate degree at HACC! Our healthcare programs, among others, maybe of interest.
When you complete your associate degree, you can transfer credits to a four-year school.
