Pre-Dietetics: Associate in Arts (AA)  (3050)

Do you enjoy helping others and like to cook? Are you interested in healthy eating? Do you want to help people treat their diabetes, improve athletic performance or recover from surgery? A career as a dietician may be right for you. Our Associate in Arts in pre-dietetics can be YOUR first step to connecting what you enjoy to a career.


What can I do with this in the workforce? 

Dieticians can work in a variety of settings, such as:

  • Hospital, clinic or nursing home
  • School and cafeteria
  • Healthcare institutions
  • Outpatient care or doctor’s offices

You may also find interest in teaching about diet and nutrition, self-employment or serving as a public health dietician. A bachelor’s degree is common among dieticians and they are required to be licensed.

What is HACC’s program like?

Our innovative instructors will use today’s concepts to build your foundation in the field. Your primary coursework will be in biology (anatomy/physiology and microbiology), inorganic chemistry, nutrition and food preparation. This will help you continue your studies in upper-level classes at a four-year school.

Can I transfer my credits to a four-year college or university?

Yes! Conveniently YOURS, our two-year degree program is a transfer program and is designed to be flexible enough to transfer to a wide variety of colleges and universities with no loss of credit. However, each individual college has its own unique program. We encourage you to select a four-year school as soon as possible. This will allow you to learn the transfer college’s program requirements so that you can take the proper classes at HACC. Please browse the various transfer options:

Where can I complete this program?

You can complete the entire program at our Harrisburg Campus.

 

Does HACC offer scholarships?

Yes! Through the HACC Foundation, there are scholarships available. Please visit hacc.edu/scholarships for details and deadlines.

 

When can I apply?

HACC offers classes in the spring, summer and fall, and you can apply online anytime. When you submit your application, please include the program code 3050, which is unique to this program. The proper code will ensure you apply to the program of your choice.
