The Automotive Safety Inspection Training Certificate informs students of the regulations and requirements concerning Pennsylvania Safety Inspection of vehicles, as well as prepares them to pass the State Certification Exam for Pennsylvania Safety Inspections.

This certificate serves the needs of individuals who are already employed within the industry.  HACC also offers automotive training - customized to meet the needs of individual companies - and is a GM Training Satellite for GM dealer technicians.  The Safety Inspection and Emissions programs are operated in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

This 12-hour program leads to Pennsylvania Safety Inspection certification administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and contains both classroom and hands-on instruction.

This program trains students working in a dealership or automotive shop to be able to provide safety inspection services to customers.

This curriculum is designed to prepare students to:

  • Pass the Pennsylvania Safety Inspection certification exam
  • Describe the rules covering Pennsylvania safety inspections
  • Demonstrate proper use of inspection tools
  • Demonstrate proper documentation
  • Inspect a passenger car, or light truck, and determine whether or not the vehicle has passed
  • Describe the various systems and the requirements needed to meet inspection standards
