After careful evaluation of our athletic programs, the College has made the difficult decision to discontinue the following sports at HACC:
This decision was not made lightly. It reflects both financial realities and the strategic efforts to better align our offerings with long-term student engagement and institutional sustainability.
At the same time, we remain committed to investing in areas where we see strong, growing participation among our students. The College’s esports team will remain active. It continues to attract a diverse group of students and offers opportunities for competition, teamwork and skill development in a rapidly expanding field.
In addition, the College will expand its intramural program, club sports and wellness programs. Intramurals provide a more inclusive and flexible way for students to stay active, build community and enjoy competition without the demanding commitments associated with the sports listed above. By strengthening intramural offerings, we aim to create more opportunities for student participation across a wider range of interests and skill levels.
We recognize that these changes may be difficult, especially for those directly impacted. Our priority is to support affected students through this transition while building a more accessible and sustainable model for student engagement in sports and recreation.
We remain committed to fostering school spirit, wellness and community through these evolving programs.
