“I can speak English really good that sometimes people don't believe me when I tell them that I'm international.”
Parents can have a lot of sway when it comes to making a decision about going to college. That was true for Joseph Bambile, whose father chose HACC for him because of the English as a Second Language (ESL) Program.
The ESL Program at HACC helps students gain the language skills they need in order to reach their vocational, personal and academic goals. Since starting at HACC, Joseph said, “…sometimes people don’t believe me when I tell them that I’m international.”
He credits Chef Tom Long for believing in him and offering him his first job. He said “Chef Tom Long inspired me and keep inspiring me today.
Joseph graduated from HACC in December 2018 with a degree in engineering but indicated in his Story Bank submission that he plans to attend Penn State Harrisburg and earn his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
“I wasn’t expecting to be at HACC but I never regretted being at HACC,” Joseph said. Sometimes father knows best!
